Department purpose Allen & Overy's global Marketing, Business Development and Communication team contributes to the setting and achievement of the firm's strategic business objectives. This includes a structured and rigorous approach towards managing the firm's relationships with our key, global strategic clients via our global Client Relationship Management team, in conjunction with the relevant Global Relationship Partners. This ensures we demonstrate our long-term commitment to those institutions, maintain strong existing relationships and identify opportunities to broaden those relationships in to new areas of business. Role purpose Working as an integral member of the core relationship team, this role will be responsible for the panel management of some of our largest financial institution clients. Working closely alongside the Relationship Partners, Client Relationship Managers, Finance, Audit & Compliance and Information Security, the individual will be responsible for leading on panel review discussions to negotiate the most favourable commercial arrangements and terms. The individual will also be responsible for helping to ensure compliance with clients' terms of engagement including adhering to any pricing, budgeting or billing guidelines and any specific policies. The individual will develop a holistic overview of the operational and commercial aspects of the relationship and act as the lead panel management contact for the client's procurement and supplier management team. Key relationships Global Relationship Partners Global Client Relationship Managers Audit & Compliance Business Acceptance Unit Business Protection Unit Information Security Finance HR Role and responsibilities Become the lead relationship contact for the client's in-house procurement, supplier management and COO functions in relation to panel management requirements Develop an in-depth understanding of the client's requirements, commercial terms and expectations of panel firms to ensure the firm delivers against these Lead on panel reviews and tenders, working alongside the core relationship team and Finance to develop and negotiate the most favourable commercial arrangements Work alongside the Relationship Partners, Audit & Compliance and the in-house legal team to negotiate and agree engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines Support the Audit & Compliance and in-house legal teams in responding to risk management requirements, including audit and supplier screening exercises Develop processes, systems and communication channels to ensure the firm delivers against its service commitments and complies with the client's commercial terms Work alongside Finance to help resolve critical billing and payment issues by liaising with the client's senior escalation contacts Support the delivery of regular MI reporting to the client and identify improved channels for data delivery Help implement a best practice model of panel management of key clients to enhance our overall relationship management approach Sharing best practice across client accounts and the business to help develop a consistent approach to panel management Key requirements Understands the commercial and risk management drivers of clients Highly experienced in negotiating or structuring complex commercial arrangements Comfortable speaking to clients about the commercial aspects of a relationship Experience of ensuring compliance with commercial terms Lateral thinker Excellent systems knowledge and IT skills Project management skills Strong attention to detail (in presenting information) Enthusiastic, pro-active, persistent, robust, commitment to "getting the job done" Team player and highly collaborative Ability to demonstrate initiative and generate ideas Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well under pressure and to drive through major projects to completion Good organisational and administrative skills/ability to multi-task Who we are looking for Graduate or equivalent with a strong academic background 8+ years' experience in procurement, commercial / operations management with a solid understanding of financial metrics, commercial terms and risk management requirements Knowledge of the financial services sector and relevant experience in the professional services industry would be beneficial.
