Under direct supervision of the SEAL team leader or higher licensed medical professional, the Licensed Vocational or Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN) participates in the patient plan of care by administering medications to patients, within scope, following written/oral instructions, and communicating and maintaining accurate patient records. In addition, the SEAL team LVN/LPN participates in transitioning counties from one medical healthcare vendor to CMGC. In this capacity the LVN/LPN will train newly hired nurses to the essential functions of the LVN/LPN in the correctional setting; including but not limited to LVN/LPN scope of practice, CMGC LVN/LPV protocols, medication pass, nursing treatments and all relevant workflows.
Education for Licensed Practical Nurse:
Experience for Licensed Practical Nurse: Licenses/Certifications for Licensed Practical Nurse:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Unrestricted current compact LVN/LPN license, certification or registration in state(s) of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
- Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
Responsibilities Provide training and standardize in-services and on-boarding for staff Collaborate with all home office functions to ensure program success Coordinate deployment of staff to facilities that require additional support Ensure new facilities under management are prepared to implement respective clinical, service, and operating objectives Adherence to contract, P&Ps, rules and regulations for assigned counties Ensure confidentiality of patient health issues Regularly communicate with SEAL Team manager on any identifiable issues/opportunities. Maintain current Policies and Procedures Perform nursing procedures according to standards of care and within scope of practice as dictated by the state LVN licensing board Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations and effectively intervening with emergency equipment, supplies, and material Participate in patient and family health education Maintains open lines of communication with medical personnel Transcribes doctor's orders as necessary and ensure orders are processed In accordance with documented policies and procedures, prepare and administer ordered medications to patients housed in each facility and report significant findings and observations to the MD, PA/FNP, RN, or psychiatrist Maintain and manage accuracy of all patient medical records Know the use of all medical equipment Keep pharmacy and medication carts neat, clean and stocked at all times May assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process, orientation and training of new and potential staff Responsible for the performance evaluations and successful training of direct reports Must comply with all current and future State, Federal, and Local laws and regulations, court orders, Department Rules, Administrative Directives, Institutional Directives, American Correctional Association (ACA), as well as, the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) Standards, National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) and Policies and Procedures of the site at which assigned. Must be able to comply with all Company policies and procedures Perform other duties as assigned.
