The planning and delivery of such should reflectthe Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The post holder isinstrumental in ensuring each child reaches their full potentialthrough a commitment to quality and best practice in theclassroom. The post holder will work in a professionalmanner and share ideas and good practice with colleagues. Thesafety of children is also the responsibility of the post holderand they must work to provide a safeenvironment. Reporting ** The post holder is responsible to the NurseryDirector. The teacher is expected to lead the classassistants and plan / direct their work. Generally they report tothe Director but on a day to day basis they report to the teacher.** Job Type: Full-timeResponsibilities and Duties Accountabilities &Responsibilities Teaching ** Plan and deliver a program of care andeducation that allows each child to reach their full potential andis based on the Early Years Foundation Stage. Implementsuch plans in accordance with Nursery policies andprocedures. Review and evaluate class room plans andup-date appropriately. Undertake appropriateobservations to assess children's development needs andinform future planning for the delivery of the curriculum. Ensure such observation and assessment is effectivelyrecorded and that each child has a portfolio ofevidence. Environment ** Ensure the environment is safe and that allexperiences and activities are supervised. If appropriate, riskassessment should be undertaken and control measures inplace. Ensure daily health and safety checks areundertaken and report any concerns. Ensure theenvironment is effectively organised to promote exploration andinvestigation allowing children to learn by first handexperiences. Create and maintain a positive culturewhich supports and encourages children to make their own choicesand decisions so as to be independent and confident in theclassroom. Provide opportunities for both childinitiated and teacher led activities and experiences in thecurriculum. Create and maintain a positive approach tobehaviour management and encourage and support all children inlearning how to behave appropriately. Ensure allresources in the class are appropriate for the children and thatthey are effectively maintained and replaced. Support and encouragechildren in their appropriate use. Ensure that theclassroom is organised to offer a range of opportunities forlearning and there is an accessible range of resources.Provide an age appropriate visual timetable of the day'sevents. Organise displays of the children'swork relevant to the programme. Work with and share ideas with theteam for the overall benefit of all the children in nursery. Ensure children attendance record is accuratelymaintained. Relationships andCommunication ** Ensure thepersonal social and emotional needs of each child are fullymet. Build effective relationships with each child andprovide a suitable model for children to mirror. Workin partnership with parents to ensure the best outcome for the eachchild's learning and development is achieved.Provide regular up-dates for parents on their child'sprogress in nursery. Feedback will be on a daily basis as well asoccasional parent conferences and end of year written report. Contribute to monthly newsletters and other nurserypublications. In partnership with staff team organiseand contribute to nursery events, celebrations, festivals.Encourage and support parental involvement in suchactivities. Take part in peer observation and mentoringactivities as requested. Share knowledge, ideas and best practicewith colleagues. Ensure good teamwork in theclassroom. Attend staff meeting, training asrequested. Work flexibly and cover for other staff inthe team if needed. Maintain up to date knowledge indevelopments and trends in early year's education. Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and maintainprofessional relationships with parents. Provideteaching assistants with clear leadership, training, education anddirection in the day to day practice in the classroom.Ensure that all communities and cultures are effectively reflectedwithin the classroom and daily practice, especially that whichsupports a strong UAE identity. Policies andProcedures ** Maintain up todate knowledge of all nursery policies and procedures and workwithin such policy at all times. Maintain appropriatelevels of confidentiality and maintain a professional approach torelationships with parents. The post holder must ensurethey are fully aware of the emergency response plan and the rolesthey will need to perform should an emergency arise.The post holder will undertake any other duties within the scope ofthe role and as requested by the Director. KeySkills Teachers should hold a relevantDegree qualification such as Bachelors (Early Years/ElementaryEducation) or an equivalent level childcare qualification. Teachinglicense is highly preferred.
