Job description

CAD Design Engineer
Fantastic opportunity for an experienced CAD Design Engineer to provide the effective production of finished CAD documentation for engineering projects from designs provided by various discipline engineers.
You will also design documents to be prepared in accordance with company guidelines and industry codes and practices.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experienced in preparation of drawings and other design documentation for oil and gas engineering or Water, Nuclear, Process
* Experienced in preparation of drawings using CAD software package, (AutoCAD)
* Strong skills in MS Word, Excel & Power point.
* Minimum of one year in the petroleum pipeline and associated industries or Water, Nuclear, Process
* Familiarity with site surveying and data gathering techniques and with Ordnance Survey map work
* Valid UK driving licence
Accountabilities:
* Receive and agree drawing requirements from Project Engineers
* Prepare preliminary sketches
* Prepare flow sheets, layouts, MTO's, schedules, detail drawings and supporting documentation
* Verify design criteria as applicable and prepare detail designs and sizing requirements in the preparation of drawings
* Take site dimensions, levels and undertake site surveys as required
* Provide in-house cross checking of internal drawings for format & technical content including verification of vendor design drawings
* Provide man-hour estimates for the production of engineering drawings
* Control of allocated man-hours within budget set by engineer
* Manage work load to achieve project timescales
* Work in close liaison with Project Engineers to provide engineering solutions and designs.
* Preparation and update of pipeline route maps for issue to clients
* Creation and updating of documentation associated with the drawing office (procedures & work instructions) and the standards library
* Develop outline instructions into fully detailed drawings, making decisions on detail not fully specified by the engineer
* Produce finished designs in accordance with design codes and industry standards
* Simultaneously manage a number of project requirements to achieve individual programmes by prioritising own workload to meet project requirements and advise Drawing Office Team Leader where these cannot be met
* Follow job specification and consult with Project Engineers where design alternatives are considered appropriate
* Manage own work load to prevent conflicts in the production of drawings for different Project Engineers, and to highlight any potential conflicts to the Drawing Office Team Leader
Contact with Others
* Take instructions from and work with the Drawing Office Team Leader
* Co-ordinate with other CAD Designers to ensure mutual compatibility of designs and work programmes
* Take instructions from and liaise with Project Managers/Project Engineers
* Controlling the provision of established services and materials for the drawing office Frequent contact with people outside the team in order to provide or obtain information.
* The ability to converse clearly and concisely is important
