WHO WE ARE HIRING: MongoDB/PostgreSQL DBA

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

HHS Technology Group is seeking a full-time permanent Database Administrator to support installation, migrations, and implementations of our software product called Discover your Provider (DyP).

The primary role of the Database Administration (DBA) is designing, developing, and implementing infrastructure to provide highly complex, reliable, and scalable Databases to meet Client's objectives and requirements. The DBA shall maintain Database performance by calculating optimum values for Database parameters, implementing new releases, completing maintenance requirements, and evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products, troubleshooting, design, support (including backups and recovery), data migration techniques, and Database security.

This role is fully remote within the US.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Database Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain MongoDB and PostgreSQL database systems.
  • Monitor database performance and ensure high availability and scalability.
  • Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and data retention policies.

Optimization and Performance Tuning:

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues.
  • Implement best practices for database optimization.
  • Continuously monitor and fine-tune database performance.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce database security policies and access controls.
  • Stay up to date with security patches and best practices.
  • Assist in compliance efforts, including audits and data protection.

Database Design and Architecture:

  • Collaborate with application developers to design efficient database schemas.
  • Assist in capacity planning and scaling database systems.
  • Implement and maintain database clustering and replication.

Automation and Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine database tasks.
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) principles for database provisioning.

AWS Integration:

  • Deploy, manage, and optimize databases on AWS services, including RDS and EC2.
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies in AWS.

Documentation and Training:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on database best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing a complex NoSQL Database and Relational Database Management System (RDMS) environment on a Linux (RHEL, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu) platform with multiple environments (development, test, UAT and production, etc.).
  • Must have knowledge on Mongo administration.
  • Must know how to migrate data and restore in Mongo DB/MongoDB Atlas
  • Must have capability to troubleshoot the performance issues in Mongo Atlas
  • Extensive experience in understanding the Mongo Atlas alerts and take preventive action.
  • Have hands on experience in writing & tunning the Mongo DB queries.
  • Monitoring and optimizing the Infrastructure and queries.
  • Extensive experience dealing with sensitive data and healthcare Industry Standards and regulations.
  • Experience with technical requirements for data classification and implementing data protection technologies.
  • Must be knowledgeable of secure coding practices for Databases.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
  • Proven experience in the ability to migrate data, restore and troubleshoot alerts in Mongo Atlas.
  • Proven experience working in NoSQL databases.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services, especially RDS and EC2.
  • Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization including job scheduling.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance standards with an understanding of HIPAA and NIST 800-53 compliance standards.
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Shell).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Flexibility for the occasional need for off-hours work to support our customers.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • AWS and MongoDB certifications are a plus.
