SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Quality Technician is responsible for inspection and quality check of all received and outgoing material and products. This also includes product approval conforming to drawings and rejecting unacceptable material. This role is responsible for documenting inspection results by completing reports and logs, and inputting data into quality databases. This role is also responsible for performing acceptance testing on new parts and assemblies, as well as testing & evaluating warranty return units. This position requires collaboration skills working with all functions. The Quality Technician is responsible for achieving objectives while exhibiting Storm Industries Core Values.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Regular Functions include:

  • Performs quality inspection to ensure that manufactured products conform to drawing requirements.
  • Conducts basic functional tests to ensure that manufactured products conform to specifications.
  • Proper use of basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, scales, gauges, microscopes, or other appropriate measurement/validation fixtures) to perform routine and non-routine inspections of raw materials, in-process products, or finished products.
  • Supports gauge maintenance and gauge calibration process.
  • Prepares and submits inspection reports including First Articles (FA), Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR), Return Merchandise Authorization reports (RMA) as part of overall quality system.
  • Supports SMG in assuring product quality, identify strengths and risks and provide feedback to operations team.
  • Communicates with production to reduce the amount of non-conforming product produced.
  • Ensures any changes to raw material suppliers, manufacturing process, work center instructions, or measurement methods are made following required approval process after specific product family has been approved.
  • Other job duties as required.

Periodic Functions include:

  • Advanced inspection techniques using CMM is desirable
  • Conducts periodic Quality System Management audits to ensure compliance with Storm Manufacturing Group's requirements and expectations

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Does not supervise anyone

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates Degree and/or three or more years in a quality inspection position.
  • Equivalent work experience in manufacturing environment.

Professional/Technical Training and Skills include:

  • Basic knowledge of Quality Systems, i.e. ISO.
  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings, including understanding of GD&T basics.
  • Strong working knowledge of measurement instruments and processes, including understanding of best measurement practices.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite and MRP software.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
