Job Purpose:

Developing and executing product and business strategy in a world of rapid technological and social change requires a highly capable, highly knowledgeable, and highly engaged team.

The Digital & Data Business Planning Department is tasked with navigating the strategy and execution for Honda's future digital services. The team will focus on building and sustaining Honda's core brand values and enhancing brand image and competitiveness in the marketplace by developing new businesses, features, products, and services in the digital domain with responsibility for their customer value, competitiveness, and profitability for Honda in North America.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Business Development Connectivity Specialist who will be responsible for business aspects of vehicle connectivity. This individual has a deep understanding of the mobile network operator's business. They will be business owner and responsible for planning business strategies for vehicle mobile data plans, over-the-air updates, and telematics control units to deliver delightful customer experiences and corporate initiatives. This is an opportunity to contribute to a rapidly evolving and increasingly important part of Honda's digital services platform.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Connectivity Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and execute key business strategic initiatives related to vehicle connectivity to achieve Honda's long-term vision.
    • Create plans for vehicle mobile data services, over-the-air updates, and telematics control units.
    • Align these strategies and execute with customer experience goals and corporate initiatives.
  • Financial Performance and Profitability:
    • Optimize pricing models and profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction.
    • Create simulations and monitor financial aspects of connectivity initiatives, including revenue streams from data plans and updates.
    • Analyze KPIs related to profitability and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Partnership Development and Negotiation:
    • Identify potential partners and collaborators in the connectivity ecosystem.
    • Negotiate deals and establish relationships with technology providers, telecom companies, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Leverage partnerships to enhance Honda's competitive edge in North America.
  • Market Positioning and Brand Enhancement:
    • Position Honda as a leader in vehicle connectivity within the digital domain.
    • Enhance brand image by delivering seamless and innovative connectivity experiences.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with core brand values.
  • Customer-Centric Approach:
    • Understand customer needs and preferences in the context of vehicle connectivity.
    • Design and implement features that enhance customer experiences.
    • Continuously gather feedback and iterate on connectivity solutions to meet customer expectations.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills:


Minimum Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree is required, ideally with a major in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
MBA preferred.


Minimum Experience:

10+ years of experience in a business development, strategic partnerships, consulting, IT, engineering, or product marketing role(s).
8+ years of experience at a mobile network operator or mobile virtual network operator in a B2B role.
5+ years in connected car and/or Internet of Things (IoT).

Decisions Expected:

Investigate and create a business case for if American Honda should become a mobile virtual network operator? If yes, then become the business owner and lead the project.
What metrics and KPIs should you track to determine a project's success? What steps would you take if a project was not meeting its KPIs?
Design a business model to recover the cost for Over-the-Air software updates via mobile data? Influence cross-functional business units VPs for their support.
