Position Information

The full salary range for the Assistant Training Manager / Instructional Designer is $64,300 - $114,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $93,896.90 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. As part of the recruitment process, a work sample and presentation(s) may be required from identified finalists.

This position is based on funding from University of California Office of the President (UCOP).

The Assistant Training Manager / Instructional Designer participates as a training, education, or instructional design professional in a systemwide program or project. The individual selects technologies and tools, creates supportive learning activities, and develops new training in response to the University's needs. In collaboration with others, the position creates multimedia content and produces according to an established schedule. The individual will analyze needs and develop recommendations to address a wide range of training issues. The Assistant Training Manager / Instructional Designer provides support for testing courses to ensure they are functional, designed with learning in mind, and compliant. The individual serves on a Center of Excellence (COE) team on projects that will have University of California (UC) system wide impact.

Education

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
  • Advanced degree in education, instructional design or technology, public administration, safety, health, or related field. (Preferred)


Experience Requirements
  • 4 - 7 years of related experience. (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of combined experience developing videos, online training, and/or blended learning. (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with eLearning authoring tools (such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate/Presenter, etc.), and video production software (such as Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, etc.). (Preferred)


Minimum Requirements

Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant software systems and content creation tools. Thorough knowledge of current training programs and trends. Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong presentation skills. Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies.



Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas. Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of training and development, performance management and workplace learning. Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes. Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Strong skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new training courses to meet organizational needs. Thorough knowledge of delivering training programs and thorough knowledge of other areas of human resources. University of California experience or familiarity with higher education institutions or non-profit organizations Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Strong skills in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective delivery of training.
