Job description

Basic Purpose:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing basic maintenance duties on all buildings and grounds at the Clinton manufacturing facility. This position reports to the Production Manager and will work closely with company janitorial staff, outside janitorial service, and lawn care service to assure clean, safe, and professional looking buildings and grounds.

Nature and Scope:

Duties to be performed by the Maintenance Technician include but are not limited to minor mechanical and electrical repairs, painting, sheetrock repair, minor carpentry repairs, ceiling tile repair/replacement, minor floor repair, interior and exterior glass cleaning/repair, minor plumbing leaks, clogs and repairs, HVAC minor maintenance and filter changes, water filter replacements, routine cleaning of ice machines, water coolers, refrigerators and appliances, and other assigned maintenance work.

The Maintenance Technician will attempt to troubleshoot all issues prior to involving other contractors or vendor maintenance companies. Major electrical, plumbing, roofing, equipment installation or extensive work will be requested through the Taylor Construction Group using an electronic maintenance request.

Maintenance work will require the operation of carts, scissor lifts, forklifts, floor sweepers and other mechanical equipment. Tools to be used include hand tools, saws, grinders, drills, shovels, rakes, brooms, and other required equipment to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.

Work will include climbing ladders, working above ground, working below ground, lifting, stooping, bending and other physical work. Work areas will include offices, production areas, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, cafeteria/kitchen, shipping docks, warehouse area, parking lot, driveways, rooftop, and all outside ground areas of the property.

Principal Accountability:

  • Assure a safe, functioning and maintained work environment for all employees.
  • Work closely with the Safety Officer on building and machinery compliance.
  • Provide preventative maintenance plans to alleviate down time of systems and equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of routinely used replacement parts and maintenance items.
  • Coordinate major work with outside vendors and Taylor Construction Group.

Requirements:

  • High school, trade school or direct related work experience with electrical, mechanical, carpentry and general building maintenance preferred.
  • Certification in the areas of safety, forklift operation, equipment operation or other documented achievement and training completion would be favorable.
