The purpose of this position is to coordinate tutoring services in subject areas as needed for students at the University of Montevallo. The coordinator of tutoring in the Learning Enrichment Center (LEC) is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, coordinating, and supervising quality tutors and services for academic success.

Essential Job Duties

Identify subject areas where there is a need for tutoring and recruit quality tutors
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees who tutor in a variety of academic subjects and on a variety of topics such as note-taking, test preparation, time management, etc. that are identified through broad-based needs assessment
Schedule peer tutors (one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and drop-in tutoring) both online and in-person
Perform observations and write formal evaluations of peer tutors each semester
Staff LEC front desk; train and supervise student assistants
Manage and approve payroll for student staff
Create and enforce policies for student staff at the LEC
Manage the Center's appointment management software
Track tutoring data and compile reports each semester
Conduct outcomes assessment and use results to make continuous improvements to tutoring services
Communicate with and provide tutoring for students who have been identified as at-risk through Early Academic Alert
Meet with students for academic coaching sessions
Create and conduct presentations and workshops for students
Serve as co-advisor for Alpha Lambda Delta, the honor society for first-year academic success
Attend preview days, orientation days, and other events as required to advertise tutoring services to current and prospective UM students
Engage in appropriate professional development opportunities
Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelor's in education, counseling, or a related field required
