Position Summary:

Lead cross functional team to plan, specify, and design equipment, new and used, to add capacity and new capability to our machining and assembly departments. Manage all necessary modifications or refurbishments to equipment such as upgrades to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls, automation systems, tooling, etc. Many modifications and upgrades will be custom designed.

Manage equipment projects to meet requirements which typically include improving capacity, efficiency, quality, and capability to produce specific products. Ease of manufacturing and reliability are also priorities.

Work with Engineering and Production teams to identify opportunities and plan equipment projects. Manage projects to completion which will include planning, design, working with vendors, tooling procurement, conducting equipment and tooling trial runs, acceptance testing, and debugging prior to moving equipment into the production department.

Job Requirements:

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

*Provide leadership and communication to all project team members and functional managers such that project objectives are clear, responsibilities are understood, and progress is tracked and reported.

*Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Safety, etc. to identify improvement opportunities for new projects and refurbishment needs of existing equipment.

*Deep technical knowledge of press equipment, tooling, pneumatics, hydraulics, controls, automation, etc.

*Strong Leadership abilities to guide, support, and develop team members as assigned. Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and strong technical abilities.

*Introduce new technologies to Sig Sauer's manufacturing processes.

*Write machine specifications for procurement of outsourced machines.

*Understand finished part tolerances and the required machine capability to meet those tolerances.

*Collaborate with Engineering, vendors, etc. to design and procure tooling.

*Communicate requirements for sensors, detects, vision systems, etc. and the necessary programming/controls to integrate robust quality control and process step verification into the equipment.

*Develop/review/maintain/update related files, procedures, databases, drawings, and schematics to ensure equipment documentation is complete.

*A team effort with millwrights, electricians, etc. will be required. Building a strong relationship with these resources will be key to success.

*Willingness to seek out and establish new vendors. Comfortable negotiating with vendors/suppliers.

*Will have responsibility for a physical area within the facility to assemble/disassemble equipment and tooling, perform trial runs, debugging, etc. Also responsible for equipping the shop as necessary and maintaining the highest level of safety.

*Knowledgeable in the Automation/Electrical Engineering design field, with experience in the design, optimization, and build of automation equipment.

*Ensure design utilizes lean principles, SMED, etc. to improve the overall process, cost, and efficiency while preventing defects.

*Incorporate equipment and supporting processes in line layouts to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

*Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget while maintaining a high level of quality.

Education and/or Experience:

*Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automation, Electrical or other related engineering discipline.

*10+ years in a manufacturing environment preferred with demonstrated ability developing and implementing equipment, automation processes, etc.

*Proficiency with CAD systems, Solidworks preferred.

*Demonstrated working knowledge of materials and heat treating processes.

*In depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

*Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical controls.

*Working knowledge of servo motors, linear positioning systems, rotary positioning systems.

*Working knowledge of part presence sensors, limit switches, proximity sensors, lasers, etc.

*Must have a broad electrical & mechanical background, including hands on experience with PLC's/HMI, controls, and tooling. Programming software knowledge is a plus.

*Demonstrated ability to work with a team to lead, plan, and execute multiple projects. Quality of work must be high. Good written and verbal communication of complicated subjects is required.

*Fluent with all OSHA standards pertaining to mechanical punch presses.

Working Conditions:

*Able to lift up to 40 pounds

*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
