Job Summary

The STEM Specialist position leads the promotion, organization, and delivery of the Girl Scout Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Program to girl members. The STEM Specialist coordinates the successful delivery of programs funded by grants and performs a wide variety of duties and assignments to ensure quality, focused delivery and evaluation of STEM programs to girls. The STEM Specialist reports to the Manager of the Program Department and works collectively with all GSCM departments towards the completion of GSCM?s many STEM focused goals. The STEM Specialist will work outside of the office 50% of the time and 50% in the office setting to take the lead on organizing council-wide STEM events.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

? Acts as the GSCM subject matter expert

? Develops an understanding and knowledge of the various STEM programs and events offered through our council including, in-school programs, single day events, day camps, and reoccurring meetings

? Works with the Manager of the Program Department to ensure events, projects, and camps are planned, budgeted, and carried out within approved council goals, objectives, and safety standards

? Facilitates major council sponsored events and, including but not limited to, developing materials, organizing with community partners, and promoting events

? Participates in training opportunities offered by GSCM and externally in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including trainings related to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields, but specifically, technology

? Maintains a broad base of community contacts and positive community relations by meeting with and speaking to individuals, and groups to promote Girl Scouting in the community

? Works collaboratively with all departments to provide cooperative retention, recruitment and training opportunities for girls

? Recruits and guides volunteers needed for implementing council-sponsored STEM programming and events

? Ensures program events and activities are planned and implemented to comply with GSUSA, GSCM, and grant funder policies and guidelines.

? Performs other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications

Education/Experience:

? Bachelor?s Degree in a related field preferred

? Strong background knowledge and passion in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) specifically technology

? Comfortable with a fast-paced environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

? Must have reliable transportation

? Must have a flexible schedule that allows for weekend and night events

? Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer-service skills

? Demonstrated computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Office products

? Ability to work with girls and adults in a large group setting

? Creative, outgoing, motivated, and able to deliver quality programs

? Ability to see programs through from conception to completion

? Detailed oriented, energetic, and able to manage multiple tasks

? Successful candidate will be culturally sensitive and possess the ability to work productively with diversified groups of people

? Must be 21 years of age
