Senior Manager, Windows Software Engineer

Job Description

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, Windows Platform Engineer to be accountable for Strategy, Design and Build for the Windows platform, or project (agile team) initiatives within client technology. The Senior Manager is responsible for tracking and reporting of various assignments and manages multiple initiatives at a time. This role is part of building large scale reliable infrastructure, applications and services that impact the way Capital One does business. You will participate in detailed technical design, development and implementation of infrastructure, applications and services utilizing existing and emerging technology platforms.


  • Technical and Team Lead to implement medium to large projects.
  • Provides, drives and approves engineering activities for projects
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams with troubleshooting
  • Subject Matter Expert within specific discipline(s) (e.g. Windows, Linux, device management, routing and switching, enterprise security)
  • Handles high complexity and / or moderately ambiguous tasks
  • Provides multiple solutions and work to optimize based on business needs
  • Leads design and implementation reviews to ensure compliance with corporate standards
  • Focus on continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality/time to market imperatives
  • Maintain records to document system development and evolution
  • Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams while mentoring junior platform engineers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 5 years of Windows Platform Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering or military experience
  • Certifications (Microsoft (MCP) MCSE - Cloud, Data, Mobility, Productivity, MCSA - Windows 10, Server 2012/2016, AirWatch EM Professional, LPIC-3, Cisco CCNA)
  • At least 5 years of programming experience (C++, JS, Python, Java, PowerShell, Ruby, Bash)
  • 5+ years of experience with network protocols, system admin and engineering and design and development methodologies.
  • 5+ years of experience with full life cycle implementations of a system or application or service component
