NES Fircroft are looking for a Project Controls Manager for a new major chemicals project during all stages of the project and planning for further projects.
Their responsibilities will include processes such as estimate and schedule development, cost and progress reporting, auditing, risk management and change management as well as close coordination and oversight of the contractor project teams.
Other responsibilities will include:
Leadership of Project Control function
Establish a permanent project controls function and team within the project organisation and raise the level of expertise across the business in the PCM area to support world class delivery of projects
Develop the project control plan and approach for the overall project, manage the implementation and correct use of the processes and provide the project control functional guidance and coaching throughout all stages to ensure processes understood and adhered to
Lead and coach the Cost and Planning team to deliver the control functions for the project
Input into other areas of the project, particularly the Information, Data & Systems Manager and Document Control Team by defining project requirements and priorities for information, data and systems. Project schedule and estimate development
Develop and maintain overall project schedules and milestone plans covering all MCM project activities up to beneficial operation so that project can be planned and executed on time
Oversee the development and validation of all project schedules by the FEL 3 contractor to ensure they align with project requirements
Manage and own the WBS, only permitting amendments via formal change control, to ensure project schedule remains on track
Manage the development and validation of an overall project estimate including all MCM project costs and oversee the development of an open book EPC estimate from the FEL 3 contractor Development and implementation of processes and systems
Develop the corporate project controls processes and procedures, common project reporting to be used across all Strategic Projects
Develop and implement a Project Audit Strategy to ensure project is maintaining appropriate standards
The project group is a developing area within the Strategic Projects Group. The organisation has not held this type of functional expertise in-house previously. The job holder will need to establish a new team and set up project control systems and processes from first principles. They will also need to coach the project team and regional teams in the business to raise the level of understanding of project control processes
to improve the success of project execution and delivery. The requirement is for a step change in the level of business capability in the project control area.
The jobholder must be highly motivated, detail orientated, analytical and have a very high concern for ethical and business standards.
The job holder will have had at least 10+ years project controls experience working for an operator on major chemical, petrochemical or oil and gas projects, including front-end, detailed design and construction phases.
Highly experienced with scheduling tools such as Primavera and MS Project
Highly experienced in major project cost control
Detailed understanding of the requirements of AACE estimates
Strong familiarity with business enterprises systems (SAP) and finance and procurement processes
Familiarity with contract management software packages such as Built intelligence would be beneficial.
The job holder will hold a relevant degree.
Recognised accreditation from professional bodies would be advantageous.
It is a requirement of the role for frequent travel
