Job description

Prestige Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Production Engineer.
Overall Responsibility
To undertake/facilitate customer liaison, drawing and manufacturing processes, ensuring customer jobs are completed on time and all activities are completed in an efficient and effective manner
* Prepare Quotations
* Be the designated point of contact for particular projects, develop a business relationship and advise on appropriate solutions to customer project matters
* Ensure that proposed pricing are suitable for the market/individual customers
* Liaise with the Business Services Team on new customer contracts/credit limits and on existing customer exposure/payment etc.
* On larger quotations liaise with the Manager to ensure that such a commitment can be supported
* Liaise with the customer to ensure that there is sufficient detail around specifications, delivery destinations, timescales etc.
* Prepare all documentation
* Undertake CAD modelling (a) turning customer drawings in to in-house drawings (b) producing in-house drawings from a customer specification (c) producing in-house design/drawings
* Attend formal design reviews as appropriate to advise of Production Engineering issues related to a particular project
* Liaison with Structural engineers for EN 1090 work
* Produce job packs 'Run Sheets' etc. for Manufacture/Assembly and routing of parts
* Update/maintain databases for tracking progress
* Negotiate with Suppliers around timescales/costs and, when agreed/required, raise POs for Suppliers and/or Subcontractors
* Arrange Transportation if required
* Monitor Work Progress
* Liaise with Production to overcome issues encountered in the workshop and/or with suppliers
* Liaise with the Manager/Customer when such issues will/have impacted the PO requirements - cost, quality & timescales
* Record all internal faults/Customer complaints and work with QA to ensure that the appropriate non-conformance paperwork is placed
1. Monitor progress around nonconforming product - reworked/returned etc.
* Maintain and manage quality and compliance across the areas under the role:
* Manage documentation, housekeeping, continuity plans etc
* Up-hold the Processes of the company and compliance with the Procedures
* Support any Investigations into Customer Complaints and Internal faults and work with QA to ensure that the appropriate non-conformance paperwork is placed
* Contribute to a healthy, safe, and legal business; continually reviewing practices to maintain compliance
* Be proactive in recognising areas and processes within the business that could be improved to ensure profitability in all we do
* Contribute to and uphold all quality standards, procedures and legislations
* Support the Development and Training of staff & the Apprentice Training Programme

* In order to support the business and/or personal development of the job holder, other work may/will be allocated, short term, based on a skills assessment carried out by the Operations Manager
Person Specification
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Good level of written and spoken English is required
Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD
Required Competencies
Excellent Communication skills, both written and spoken
Shop floor experience within a Sheet Metal Fabrication and welding environment, including Press Brake work
IT Proficient with experience of Auto CAD 2D and Parametric 3D Software,
Experience and knowledge of Steel sheet materials
Excellent ability to prioritise and manage time well

Methodical and logical in approach to work
Calm even when working under pressure
