To contribute to the process engineering team in the definition and improvement of manufacturing processes and plant for new and existing products and to ensure the capital project programme is adequately supported to meet the site and business targets.
Ability to prepare comprehensive process engineering documentation and calculations.
The position also requires the incumbent to support the Development department in Process Safety Management activities, namely HAZOP and process safety risk assessments.
Leading campaign changeovers and liaising with the project and construction teams to ensure an efficient and timely changeover window. Producing scopes of work to allow a multidiscipline team to execute their individual elements of the project.
Ensure that all Environment, Health & Safety requirements are met including (but not limited to) workplace organisation, work instructions, risk assessments, housekeeping standards, and operating within the environmental permit.
Prepares relevant process engineering documentation including P&IDs, commissioning procedures, equipment specifications & data sheets, calculations, etc. for projects in a timely manner.
Review for accuracy and approve documentation produced by colleagues.
Plan and manage the installation & commissioning of new or modified plant and lead the technical start-up team for product changeover.
Ensure that design intent is met, scale up parameters are understood and production is established safely and effectively to meet cost, time, EH&S and quality targets.
Lead the initial conceptual phase of capital projects in the development of strategies for expanding and providing capacity to meet the needs of the business in support of the techno commercial strategy.
Review designs to ensure an optimum balance between technical suitability, operability and cost-efficiency.
Participate in major capital project teams and control the process engineering input to these projects to ensure that development, design and data provision activities are completed to meet agreed targets of scope, cost and time.
Lead HAZOPs and Design review studies, quantified risk assessments etc. Arrange the process safety reviews (HSE reviews and HAZOPs, LOPAs etc.) and ensure that the resulting recommendations are implemented.
Utilises industry best practice in all aspects of work.
Makes demonstrable contribution to creating cross functional relationships, working closely & effectively across disciplines to improve processes and develop the skills & knowledge of self and others.
Takes a key role in process improvement activities and manufacturing facility troubleshooting & optimisation. Leads technical evaluation of engineering aspects of new product enquires, summarises requirements quickly & concisely, identifies key equipment constraints and potential challenges.
Understanding the requirements of a top tier COMAH site and the implications for Process Engineering deliverables
Participation in hazard studies including HAZID, HAZOP & LOPA
Producing high quality engineering designs
Experience of chemical process development & optimisation
Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical Engineering with, ideally,
Chartered Engineer status.
Minimum 5+ years' Process Engineering experience in a relevant industry, ideally
in multi-product batch processing facilities
