We are looking for a Policy Adviser to join the Standards and Policy team on a permanent basis.
The Professional Standards Authority is a strategic organisation with a key role in ensuring high standards of patient safety through excellence in regulation. We promote the health, safety and wellbeing of patients, service users and the public by raising standards of regulation and registration of people working in health and care. We are an independent body, accountable to the UK Parliament. We are a small organisation that is respected for its expertise.
We help to protect the public by raising standards in the regulation and registration of the health and care workforce. Our work includes understanding the factors that influence people's behaviour and motivations when providing care for patients and service users, as well as understanding how organisations behave and the impact of regulation and preparing the organisation for its role in a reformed regulatory landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to help identify ways that regulators can improve their protection of the public and their support for health and care practitioners in meeting regulatory standards.
You will have a good grounding in a relevant policy or research environment, possibly working in healthcare policy, regulation, politics, or a government department. You will work on a range of policy and research projects, assist in providing advice about regulation to government ministers, and support the team to carry out its work effectively. We are open to applications from other sectors and from anyone who can bring fresh thinking to the challenge of improving the effectiveness of regulation.
We are committed to promoting a fair and inclusive workplace where all our staff can flourish and reach their full potential. We know that a diverse workforce, at all levels, allows for a more creative and productive environment bringing different viewpoints, knowledge and experience. Therefore, we strongly encourage applications from everyone irrespective of age, gender identity or expression, religion or belief, disability, ethnicity and sexual orientation.
