Job Scope & Purpose:

Our Boston based client, focused in synthetic biology and bacterial transformation is seeking a handful of molecular biology researchers to join their ever-growing ranks. At the heart of this role is high-throughput genetic engineering across multiple species. Their approaches are designed to scale X via software and automation. They are seeking engineers to improve and scale existing technologies and define and develop the next set of synthesis technologies that will lie at the center of the foundry. The ideal candidate has led the development of a high-throughput biological process from development, validation through to successful operation at scale, most likely for DNA synthesis or sequencing. A demonstrated ability to evolve a process in response to changing technology and demands is essential. Please note that this position is for the weekend shift in our rotation. Saturday and Sundays are required workdays

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate and improve processes for DNA synthesis and assembly platforms
  • Apply DOE approaches to refine and improve methods
  • Translate methods and tools to be performed by Software and Automation teams
  • Work hand-in-hand with Software and Automation engineers to scale up methods and tools X
  • Develop processes for verification and quality control of constructed genetic parts and strains


Primary Job Requirements:
  • Ability to work the weekend shift
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry or biomedical engineering
  • At least two years of relevant experience with molecular biology protocols (such as DNA amplification and modification, gene synthesis, next-generation sequencing, bacterial culturing, and plasmid prep), as well as an understanding of related reagents
  • Demonstrated expertise in manufacturing with automated fluid handling equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers, fellow team members, and senior management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fluid, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated use of SPC, DOE, and Failure Analysis techniques preferred
  • Exposure to Six-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing a plus
