The Sr NG GIS Technologist is the advanced level of the classification series. The position supports the Natural Gas Business Unit by providing technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to demonstrate advanced skills and work with minimal supervision. NG Sr GIS Technologists have a high latitude for unreviewed work both independently and while providing technical leadership to other NG GIS Technologists I, II, III and/or other staff.NG Sr GIS Technologist supports the Natural Gas Business Unit by providing leadership support to the Sr. Project Manager - Asset Data Quality PMO. to ensure that GIS data projects are completed in a timely, accurate, and effective manner. This position is responsible for the quality assurance and quality control of asset data and that ensures that gas asset data meets quality standards and is accessible to the business. This position is also responsible for ensuring process consistency across multiple teams and will provide oversight to ensure established processes are being followed.Responsibilities & Duties: • Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance to others in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise. Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Proactively identifies and resolves issues. Proactively communicates to supervisor, co-workers, departmental management and stakeholders on ongoing activities and emergent issues.• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, scheduling and monitoring of work activities. Coordinate day-to-day activities, including prioritizing work, ensuring that projects achieve desired goals with available resources. Plan project activities. Coordinate and oversee work of contractor partners. Implements change and leads others through change.• Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and maps. Understands, and interprets complex design drawings, property plats, maps, and other related information as necessary to post data in the Company GIS system. Generates and maintains GIS-generated operations maps. Perform Quality Control of team members standard and advanced work. Conduct internal and external training. Create and maintain job aids. Ensure that maps, graphs, process flow diagrams, training material, and presentations are available and up to date.• Conducts GIS and related studies. Stays informed about changing business drivers and the supporting technologies.• Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance. Performs work of a higher classification when preparing for advancement. Coordinates team tasks and multiple projects simultaneously.• Deep understanding of key business activities that use GIS Data including Transmission Integrity Management; Distribution Integrity Management; Compliance Inspections; Line Locations (811); Hydraulic Models; Emergency Response; Aerial Patrols; Reporting; Field Customer Service; Sales and associated regulatory requirements.Note: Dependent upon experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.Basic/Required Qualifications: Natural Gas GIS Technologist III:Bachelor of Science in GIS or equivalent and three (3) or more years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate Degree in GIS or equivalent and five (5) or more years of experience; OR High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) or more years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degreeBasic/Required Qualifications: Sr. Natural Gas GIS Technologist:Bachelor of Science in GIS or equivalent and six (6) or more years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate Degree in GIS or equivalent and eight (8) or more years of experience; OR High School Diploma/GED and twelve (12) or more years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degreeDesired Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Geographic Information Science and four (4) or more years of related work experiencePerformance Expectations: "Valued Contributor" or better in last Performance ReviewDemonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.Demonstrated ability to work well with employees from key business units and customers.Communicate effectively with stakeholders in order to identify, understand, prioritize requirements, and then translate into solutions.Excellent written and oral communication skills.
