M+E Multi-Skilled Technician (electrical bias) - Northwood Headquarters

Skanska provides total facilities management for Assets, Infrastructure, Support and Office Services across a wide spectrum within a large military complex - Northwood Headquarters.

As a day Multi Skilled Technician with electrical bias, you will maintain and repair the site electrical/mechanical/building services plant & equipment in support of the site maintenance under the terms of the Northwood PFI contract.

As part of this role within our day shift team, you will:

Perform planned preventative maintenance, statutory compliance tasks and reactive works investigations/repairs on, but not limited to, the Low Voltage electrical systems on site

Service, test, diagnose and repair process control systems and automatic control devices related to the building services plant and equipment

Liaise / assist with other services as necessary for the efficient delivery of work activities, workmanship and productivity to comply with the performance standards

Use provided test and monitoring equipment for the purpose of maintaining engineering system operational performance and to aid fault diagnostics and repair, interrogate and adjust systems to maintain correct operation of plant and equipment

Interrogate and adjust systems to maintain correct operation of plant and equipment

Carry out electrical, mechanical and system checks associated with maintaining a compliant environment in the relevant areas in accordance with current legislation

Carry out Skilled Person duties as required for the engineering services on site in compliance with JSP375 Volume 3 as applicable, including preparation of installations for others

Where required undertake and implement minor capital works projects

Implement & comply with the procedures as detailed in the company's Health & Safety Policies, Statutory obligations and in accordance with the Skanska IFE (Injury Free Environment)

Participate in the site on-call out of hours rota as and when requested by Line Manager

Undertake any other tasks that may arise from time to time as required and directed by Line Manager / Supervisor

We're looking for:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance of at least SC level. In order to pass the clearance you must have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years

NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent (including recognised apprenticeship) with either an electrical or building services bias

Working knowledge of other building services and trades

Excellent team working, customer care and problem solving capabilities

It would be advantageous, however, not essential:

Experience of Engineering Services Maintenance

Qualification and experience in Periodic Inspections - desirable but not essential

Experience in a similar role on an MOD site is advantageous but not essential

Experience of complex electrical installations including UPS and Generators is desirable

Work experience in a MOD environment and compliance with MOD Safe Systems of Work (JSP375, Vol 3) - desirable

Experience of working to Critical Engineering Risk Management protocols - desirable
