The Facility Maintenance Manager is a member of the Facility's Senior management team, reporting to the Facility Manager.

The Maintenance Manager, must have the ability to work collaboratively with the facility management team, regional support, hourly employees and contractors. The manager must have the ability to create a culture where Safety is the #1 Priority.

The manager will be responsible for the overall management of facility mechanical, electrical & Instrument/Control activities, as well as maintenance of approximately 75 pieces of yellow iron, rolling stock and stationary equipment such as hydraulic waste compactors. Other equipment includes rail containers and other rail transportation apparatus.

This includes long-term planning & scheduling of all maintenance activities on all equipment, buildings, facilities, and utilities within the 50-acre site. The individual will be responsible for providing annual budgeting information and monthly forecasting up-dates managing a Maintenance budget of approximately $1.6 MM.

The individual will direct the mechanical supervisor/lead technicians and contractors on all daily and long-term maintenance activities including prioritizing work activities, preventive maintenance scheduling, scheduled/unscheduled compactor outages and facility preservation projects.

The individual must possess the ability to create an environment that empowers employees to drive change and improve systems. Be able to train employees on proper Maintenance work and troubleshooting skills.

Heavy equipment and machinery maintenance experience or a solid background in waste handling and/or industrial plant maintenance including a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in order to be considered for this position.

Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS (Education, Skills, Certificate, Licenses, Experience):
  • Maintenance management or supervisory experience with a minimum of 10 years applicable work experience in an industrial facility with responsibility for equipment reliability centered maintenance, engineering, and/or program management.
  • 5 years minimum maintenance supervision or reliability work experience in waste management, construction, utility, EFW or equivalent is a requirement.
  • No limitations to working in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in the following areas:
    • Detail work/ job planning and work hazard analysis
    • Planning complex work schedule/shift and project work
    • Failure mode analysis and failure analysis techniques
    • Risk or criticality analysis for equipment or process
    • Industrial facility maintenance practices
    • Standard fault/ event tree construction and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in industry standard comprehensive reliability program such as TPM, RCM or other, (preferred).
  • Strong facility process understanding via P&IDs, drawings and specifications.
  • Safe working leadership.
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to commutate orally and in written format.
  • Strong ability to build team/culture at facilities/across the regions and organizations (client), (resource and best practice sharing)
  • Motivated leader and self-starter.
  • Technical or engineering education or equivalent training and experience, and a minimum 10 years experience in an industrial maintenance environment with at least 5 of those years in supervision or management.
  • Practical field experience involving equipment installation, maintenance, overhaul and operation.
  • Knowledge of plant operation, and reference knowledge of applicable standards Ex.: ASME, NBIC, NEC.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially with Excel (spreadsheets, modeling, and pivot tables), Outlook, and use of inventory management software, PeopleSoft ALM experience desirable.
  • High level of knowledge and experience with maintenance management, inventory management, or asset management enterprise system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and easily with management/ employees at different levels of the organization.
  • Minimum of 10 years of maintenance supervision or management experience in industrial maintenance and reliability engineering.
  • Practical skills such as welder, millwright, machinists, operator, etc. a plus.

Operating facility environment with OSHA required PPE, safety training for areas of steam boiler and turbine - generator operation. Must be able to access all areas of the facility as required, as well as access confined spaces as required, and must be able to wear a respirator when required.
