Do you have a HR qualification (CIPD) or equivalent experience, a track record of advising on employment issues and a solid understanding of employment law? Then join Shelter in this fixed term part-time role as a HR Adviser and you could soon be playing an important role within our People Directorate.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change - with individuals, in communities, across society - and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

About the role
Our People Directorate provides the strategic lead on people management and organisational development and aims to enable the organisation to have the right culture, capacity and capability to achieve its purpose. This particular role sits within the Business Partnering team that partners with the organisation and leadership teams to identify business goals and priorities and translate them into clear people plans. Your challenge? To manage a variety of cases, including probation, sickness, grievance, disciplinary and dignity at work, in line with Shelter's strategy and core values, up to employment tribunal level. You'll also work with our HR Business Partners to understand the needs of different employee groups and teams and proactively identify opportunities to provide support to improve people management in those areas.

About you
To succeed, you'll need considerable experience of advising managers on various employment issues, including disciplinaries, sickness absence, grievances and redundancy. We'll also be looking for the ability to coach and develop managers and provide expert guidance on implementing HR policies and procedures. Adept at maintaining effective casework records and documentation, analysing trends and reviewing and improving systems and processes comes naturally to you too. What's more, you're customer focused, enjoy collaborating with others and are proficient using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Skype.

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We're here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
