Job description

Job Title - EPC Lead Project Manager
Grade - Level 8
Department - Strategic Infrastructure
Job title & grade of Line Manager - Senior Project Manager
Section 2 - Job purpose
To develop, sanction, deliver and close a number of projects within a major project to time, cost and specification in accordance with the emerging Strategic Infrastructure process. Ensuring health, safety and environmental issues are managed throughout the process and projects deliver the business' regulatory, stakeholder and customer commitments. Working with wider project build and maintain good partner and stakeholder relationships that will enable successful project delivery
Section 3 - Key Accountabilities
Lead on all technical engineering and non engineering interfaces on the project, ensure appropriate rigour is applied to solutions balanced with timely delivery.
Lead on investment processes and requirements for regulator including Early Construction Funding and Pre-construction funding submissions, required for the delivery and closure of a complex mega project.
Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through positive engagement and work pro-actively to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Produce all required project documentation, ensuring governance is maintained throughout the investment process whilst also demonstrating the implementation of lessons learned and best practice
Develop, implement, and manage project delivery, design, safety by design, commissioning, scheme closure and post-completion requirements.
Lead interface as client on Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and where required, appoint and lead the FEED contractor in their activities. Monitor and control the FEED budget and resolve any contractual issues in a timely manner.
Working with Investment Accountants, monitor and control the investment throughout the process providing regular project monthly status reports (including SHE performance, milestone progress, risk management) and accurate and timely financial forecasting information to support regulatory reporting, and business and capital planning.
Manage the Contractor commissioning and performance testing process on site. Ensure the provision of accurate 'as built' documentation to handover of the assets onto the system to the standards defined in the design.
Act as the NEC Project Manager (or equivalent for other contract types).
Undertake additional duties to support team / region as delegated by the Senior Project Manager.
Undertake Delegation of Authority for Senior Project Managers as and when required.

Interpersonal, Supervisory or Management
Demonstrable experience of good stakeholder management.
Proficient business writing and communication skills.
Demonstrable experience of problem solving and an appetite for continuous improvement
Good influencing and negotiating skills
A customer-centric approach to delivering a high-quality output
Technical or Specialist
Proficient technical knowledge of the Electricity Transmission System
Knowledge of business processes and governance.
Understanding of funding mechanisms and/or financial control best practice.
Working knowledge and application of CDM
Proficient understanding and experience of Safety and Environmental legislation, practices and policies.
Proficient in Contract Management
Section 6 - Qualifications
Essential -
Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification(s) and/or relevant experience in a related field
Educated to a degree or equivalent level
NEC3/NEC4 Project Manager qualification or equivalent
Experience of working on major Infrastructure projects and programmes.
Project Management Qualification
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Registered member of a relevant professional body whilst working and training towards full chartered status is desirable.

Monitor Contractor site activities to ensure compliance with National Grid SHES standards, Health & Safety, Environmental legislation and CDM regulations
Where relevant, subject to the type of project, effectively lead, manage and co-ordinate the preparation and submission of an accurate, timely and compliant Development Consent Order (DCO) application; and following the making and acceptance of that submission effectively lead, manage and co-ordinate the necessary inputs and performance of the Project Team into and during the DCO Examination process
Section 4
Excellent knowledge, understanding and experience of the DCO consenting process.
Direct project experience of the DCO Application and Examination stages required
