Job Title: Transport Planner

Location: LE67, Bardon , Leicestershire

Salary: 26k - 27k per year

Hours: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (depending on the workload, there will be days when the finish time may vary, but won't be later than 7.30 pm),

Monday - Friday

We are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth operation of our transport fleet while providing top-notch customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process orders ( print them for the warehouse; assign them to the appropriate carrier based on weight , length, and postcode)
  • Process Returns
  • Work closely with company's drivers, warehouse staff, and carriers.
  • Upload all deliveries and collections onto the system and generate labels accurately.
  • Utilize intensive knowledge of the UK and geographical locations to plan routes without relying on Google Maps.
  • Pre-plan routes and coordinate routing effectively.
  • Filter deliveries by postcode and plan routes accordingly using our TMS system.
  • Liaise with drivers, subcontractors, and couriers to ensure timely delivery coverage.
  • Use collection PO numbers to upload to the system and create routes efficiently.
  • Complete all planning tasks by 4:00 PM daily, ensuring readiness for the next day's operations.
  • Monitor emails, address customer complaints, and communicate any discrepancies to higher management.
  • Assist in creating orders and labelling shipments accurately.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of 1 year as a Transport Planner is essential.
  • Strong data input skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Ability to plan routes without relying on Google Maps.
  • Familiarity with Transport Management Systems (TMS) is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with drivers, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving responsibilities.
  • Career progression mindset with a desire to take on additional responsibilities.
