Scope of Service:
Our client is looking for a Buyer to join the Purchasing team on a contract basis. The Role consists of supporting with the management of the supplier base, problem resolution, contract negotiation and cost optimisation.
Managing the full procurement life cycle, utilising robust and objective forward/global sourcing processes and working with budget holders to meet commercial objectives in a cost and time sensitive manner.
Leading the tender processes to select suppliers, reviewing against capability, cost, quality and sustainability measures. Ongoing supplier performance management.
Driving cost discipline back into the business through early supplier engagement, design to cost and hidden cost initiatives in the infancy stages of new programmes.
Delivering against key measures of success, including material cost reduction, tooling investment, accrual and purchase price variance and project targets.
Representing the purchasing department in cross functional meetings and across the VW Group.
Ensuring compliance to the procurement process and recommending improvements to processes and ways of working to maximise efficiencies.
Coaching, supporting and providing point of escalation for more junior members of the team.
Key Skills & Experience:
manufacturing environment with ownership of the procurement process within a defined category.
Demonstrate strong experience of supplier management including supplier selection, contract negotiation and supplier performance.
Demonstrate experience of delivering against key metrics and critical paths.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate and influence a broad range of stakeholders.
Delivery focussed and resilient in the face of adversity.
Demonstrate a collaborative approach with internal stakeholders, supply partners and global VW Group colleagues
Automotive experience combined with the CIPS qualification would be advantageous.
