Scope of Service: The Functional Project Manager is the lead for the functional content on the project and is the Engineering representative supporting the Module.

The Functional Project Manager has a matrix responsibility to the Engineering Platform Leader to ensure the successful achievement of the engineering project deliverables.

Responsible for delivery according to technical targets, timing and cost for all related project deliverables.

Key Deliverables: Departmental Representation

Representative in relevant business forums, deputising for the ED/HoD/EPL when necessary
Deployment of the functional technical strategies/roadmaps into the project in support of core competency/attribute delivery.
Delivery Control and Change Management

Define with customer input the specific engineering deliverables at relevant PEP gateways for the project and manages activities to ensure gateway sign-off.
Measurement of delivery status with early warning KPI systems in place to facilitate any necessary corrective actions or timely escalation
Facilitate activities to ensure the ESO and Market Approvals are achieved
Specification Management

Responsible for management and communication of project content to secure departmental and cross functional buy-in to technical targets, timing and cost.
Evaluation of project impact on Attribute delivery/departmental strategies and technical roadmaps highlighting conflict to decision makers and assisting in countermeasures
Tracking of budget and resource profiles against delivery requirements with early warning for significant deviations
Prioritisation of Departmental Activities

Influence the functional team to ensure people are engaged in delivering high quality, innovative solutions that achieves customer satisfaction and business efficiency. Challenge feature owners inc. Head of department as required
Evaluate conflicting customer needs and support in prioritisation of tasks to ensure delivery. Assist head of department with resource conflicts in a timely manner.
Key Skills:
Extensive and demonstrable experience in an automotive engineering environment
Proven track record of successful deliveries of vehicle systems/features or as Project Manager of smaller vehicle projects.
Knowledge of Project Management principles and processes working on relevant systems.
Knowledge of vehicle, system and component type approval processes.
Broad knowledge of multiple Engineering systems and their relationships.
Broad ability to influence people at all levels
Strong problem solving skills with the ability to lead a team through problem resolution activities.
Strong ability to challenge from first principles
Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of self-motivation.
Strong presentation skills.
