Fall Protection Installations - Trainee Engineer
Salary: £17,500 - £22,500 - (negotiable on experience and qualifications)
Hours: Monday to Friday - (Some out of hours and weekend working when required)
Benefits: 28 days' holiday including public holidays, onsite parking, progressive company working on high profile contracts nationwide, progressive training and competency plan for skills improvement, NVQ L2 and L3 development.
Work Environment: Nationwide site-based working where you will be travelling from the main offices two minutes' drive from Sheffield city centre to site or overnighting away (approximately 50%) in accommodation pre-booked by the Company.
The Job Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join High Access Solutions Ltd at their Sheffield head office as a Fall Protection Installations Trainee Engineer. The successful candidate will be trained in installing & testing fall protection equipment. You will become a valuable cross trained team member in all aspects of our fall protection systems. The successful candidate will report to the Team Leader and will be expected to liaise with our customers and other contractors and employees to successfully perform your duties. As the role requires nationwide travel between sites working usually as a two-person team, flexible working hours will be required when necessary. The successful candidate will be expected to have a positive attitude to working away from home and be used to early starts to attend site inductions.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Mainly undertaking the installation, testing and inspection of fall protection equipment consisting of but not limited to cable-based safety systems, access ladders, walkways, guardrails, abseil systems, eyebolts and suspended access systems.
The job may include general warehouse / manufacturing duties if and when required subject to workload of the company.
You will plan and execute the work in line with the method statement and risk assessment and any instructions provided by the company ensuring that work is carried out in a safe and productive manner.
Complete contract specific documents on a daily basis.
Work in a small team in the execution of the works as a team member.
Will be responsible for the company vehicle, iPad, tools and equipment provided to perform your duties.
Progress to an NVQ L2 in Fall Arrest Installations with promotion available to site supervisor / team leader circa £30k.
Skills & Personal Qualities:
Time served trade background preferred with an attention to detail and high accuracy.
The ability to problem solve when the need arises.
Excellent planning & time management skills.
Good communication and diplomacy skills.
Flexible, motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team to achieve objectives and deadlines.
Willing to travel the UK when required.
Flexible and positive approach to working away from home.
A head for heights as most of our works are on high rise structures and buildings.
The ability to follow strict safe working at height practices.
Good practical skills for using and maintaining tools and equipment.
Required Qualifications & Knowledge:
Understanding of construction drawings, schematics and instruction manuals.
Must have Full UK driving license.
Ability working with Steel, Aluminum and Stainless Steel.
Understanding of hand and power tools for working with the above materials.
Desirable Qualifications & Knowledge:
Latchways / Capital Safety / Work at Height Training
CSCS card (Working at height preferred)
SSSTS - Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme preferred but not essential
IPAF 3a, 3b and 1b
Roof Top Safety Training
Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) Inspection Certification
Knowledge of Work at Height Regulations 2005
Understanding of the relevant British Standards for our industry
