Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity to lead on early years' policy development and guidance for a national charity and membership association, as Early Learning and Childcare Strategic Partnerships Manager.

Position: Early Learning and Childcare Strategic Partnerships Manager

Location: Edinburgh

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £30,000 - £37,500

Contract: Permanent

Our client provides a strategic link between the Scottish Government, local authorities and frontline practitioners and early learning and childcare (ELC) settings, focusing on the shared goal of policy and practice that improves outcomes for children. They share their members' passion for giving the best possible start to children through excellent early learning and childcare, a stated aim of the Scottish Government.

The Role

Ensuring an effective voice of the sector for the association in Scotland is critical to success, as is strengthening support for and developing the membership base. The ELC Strategic Partnerships Manager is responsible for delivery of the Scottish Government Children Young People and Families Early Intervention Fund grant-funded work, ensuring achievement of targets. The ELC Strategic Partnerships Manager will be supported by the Scotland team, the Head of Policy and External Relations the central team and individual member volunteers in Scotland, including the elected National Chair representing Scotland on their strategic board.

About You

As Early Learning and Childcare Strategic Partnerships Manager will be an outstanding communicator with the ability to lead a team and colleagues across an organisation to achieve results. You will:

  • Have a proven track record of work experience at a senior advisory/management level within education, childcare or a related sector.
  • Have a good honours degree or equivalent.
  • Have good knowledge of the early years and childcare sector, in particular the nursery sector.
  • Have knowledge of the national and local government policy context for nurseries and the implications for the sector.
  • Have an understanding of what constitutes quality early learning and childcare.
  • Have an understanding of the regulatory framework for early years.
  • Have a proven track record and credibility in working with government and public sector agencies.
  • Intelligence gathering and report writing
  • A proven track record of securing or delivering contracts
  • Be able to digest information and to understand, analyse and interpret complex issues.
  • Be competent in project and budget management, numerate with the ability to produce accurate reports and analysis.
