Job description

The Chief Quality Officer has oversight of quality and patient safety improvement efforts for UF Health Gainesville locations. The CQO provides leadership, direction and guidance for system wide efforts to continuously improve quality, safety and effectiveness. The CQO leads organizational efforts to achieve outstanding performance on key quality and safety metrics, integrating and engaging residents and other learners in our quality and safety work, engaging patients and families in quality, maintaining a positive culture of safety and facilitating shared learning across our staff, faculty and trainees. The Chief Quality Officer leads and directs the work of the Sebastian Ferraro Office of Clinical Quality and Patient Safety. In addition, the CQO supports and works closely with the Physician Directors of Quality (PDQs), residents and quality liaisons working in other disciplines including nursing, operations and clinical departments in the College of Medicine. The CQO reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer and works collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for UF Health Shands, the Dean, College of Medicine, the Chief Executive Officer of University of Florida Physicians (UFP), the UF Health Shands Chief Nursing Officer, and UF Health Shands Vice President of Operations, to develop and implement the vision and strategy for the academic and clinical programs in quality and patient safety. This is a faculty administrative position and open to current UF faculty only. M.D. and a minimum of 5 years relevant leadership experience is required., Experience working in a large and complex academic medical center is preferred along with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of evidence-based medicine and quality improvement tools and principles. Must model trust, teamwork, relationship management and coaching. Demonstrated success in leading the work of others and developing the talents and abilities of others. Must support and demonstrate patient centered/patient value behaviors.
