Reporting to the Director, Information Systems and Web Services, the Web and IT Analyst is a member of the Web and IT teams responsible for the development, application and advisory of search engine optimization (SEO), website usability, permissions and information architecture across multiple online platforms. The Web and IT Analyst implements IT systems, performs system administration and provides end-user support. In addition, they develop guidelines, recommendations, procedures, and training and support documentation, and they advise on strategies and best practices.

Responsibilities

Website and Web Applications

  • Provides timely website and administration updates, including creating and uploading website content, publications and reports
  • Performs SEO to enhance the website, web applications and platform by creating and applying metadata, page titles, tags, alternative text and taxonomies
  • Tests and analyzes the application of metadata for web applications to enhance SEO and improve user experience, design and information architecture
  • Monitors emerging search and taxonomy trends for applications, systems and products, and determines and manages the development and implementation of changes and associated procedures and processes
  • Co-ordinates the identification of key performance indicators to track the online impact of product marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Maintains content author permissions and implements workflows based on client requirements
  • Creates and maintains support reference material, day-to-day tasks, project work and staff training documents
Information Technology and Systems
  • Helps with troubleshooting end-user workstations, servers and networks
  • Assists with the maintenance of hardware and software inventories
  • Administers and supports various cloud-based technologies, including resetting passwords, providing changes in access, onboarding and troubleshooting
  • Performs regular security audits on critical business systems to mitigate vulnerabilities
  • Provides regular reports on system key metrics, usage, ticket creation and resolution
  • Builds and ships IT equipment for remote team members
  • Assists in introducing and supporting new collaborative applications, systems and platforms
  • Works closely with business departments and the Director, Information Systems and Web Services, to gather requirements on new IT modernization initiatives that provide an exceptional user experience
  • Supports boardroom audiovisual technologies, workstation setups and the key card access system
  • Develops, documents and introduces new IT and system procedures, processes, controls, configurations and user guides for staff
  • Supports and maintains network infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, backup devices and firewall monitoring
  • This position profile is designed to provide an overview of the main responsibilities for the role; other related tasks may be assigned as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, web development, management information systems, information technology, engineering or a related discipline
  • Three to five years of experience in the maintenance of websites, web applications, SEO and metadata taxonomies using technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, PHP, .NET and CSS, and Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Three to five years of experience in system administration, user support, networking, virtualization, storage, VPN and server technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical and nontechnical documentation, briefing notes and business cases
  • Experience with web content management, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and search and retrieval systems such as Drupal, WordPress and Siteimprove
  • Knowledge of administering workflow management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira, Microsoft planner)
  • Experience using and supporting Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Windows OS and server, SharePoint solutions and desktop products
  • Experience in providing technical guidance to users with varying degrees of computer knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills to examine complex issues and create actionable plans
  • Proven experience working independently and in a team environment with a high degree of initiative, attention to detail, responsibility and efficiency
  • Proven ability to establish priorities and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment while exercising flexibility and sound judgment
Assets
  • Knowledge of enterprise content management systems, such as M-Files and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems, such as Dynamic 365 Business Central and Dynamics GP
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools, analytics and survey tools
  • Bilingualism in English and French
