Accommodation & Sustainment Officer - Oxford
A local authority based in Oxford are recruiting for an Accommodation & Sustainment Officer to work as part of a team providing a comprehensive service to all residents of the Council's temporary accommodation dwellings, ensuring accommodation is managed and maintained to the required standard and that conditions of the licence agreement are being kept to.
The focus of the role is ensuring accommodation is managed and maintained to the required standard and that conditions of the licence agreement are being kept to. This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Prepare rooms and undertake viewings and sign-ups for first stage temporary accommodation, including assisting clients move in, and ensuring they are familiar with the accommodation (including fire escapes and fire safety equipment) and terms of the license/ tenancy agreement
*Undertake home visits on a regular basis, checking on occupation and the well-being of persons placed there.
*Undertake any support, advice, and assistance, to customers, as required, to sustain their licence and maintain their welfare, and to keep all records up to date as necessary.
*To update support plans for clients in temporary accommodation, as required, and to ensure that a support package is in place, if required.
*To ensure that risk assessments are completed for all new residents and to regularly review those residents with an identified risk to themselves or others, ensuring all relevant policies and procedures relating to health and safety are adhered to.
*To assist clients to make immediate claims for housing benefit, where necessary, and to assist in other claims for welfare benefits in order to ensure their financial well-being
*Take steps to resolve any problems, disputes or disturbances between occupants, visitors and landlords in a calm and sympathetic way and to liaise with the relevant agencies where necessary
*Assist with the collection of monies owed to the Council in all cases where there are arrears in payment and liaise with the Temporary Accommodation Rents Officer and appropriate departments regarding housing benefit, and the relevant external agencies to maximise income.
*To support tenancy sustainment in Home Choice properties through programmed occupancy checks, responding to concerns over rent arrears or ASB, and liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure clients receive support, as appropriate
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have previous experience within housing management, as well as providing support to vulnerable individuals.
This is a full time role on an initial 3-month contract that is likely to be extended.
