POSITION DETAILS

New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college of over 17,000 students in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees. ASAP helps students earn their college degree as quickly as possible, by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students confront. Key ASAP program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. Reporting to the Director, the Coordinator, in collaboration with the ASAP team and campus wide stakeholders, supports planning and execution of academic support initiatives for ASAP to promote academic success.

* Coordinate the hiring, training, and scheduling of tutors across a variety of disciplines

* Coordinate program materials and outreach for group and individual tutoring

* Support and promote all academic support programs, and co-academic opportunities including undergraduate research and internships

* Assist with the implementation of STEM initiatives including skills building workshops and other co-curricular programs and expansion of Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL)

* Assist with program recruitment and retention efforts

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

The preferred candidate will have:

* An understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds

* An ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Strong organization, communication, and facilitation skills

* Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student activities

* Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Access and Excel); and aptitude to learn new systems as needed. Knowledge of CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft), desirable

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program.

* Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration

* Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities

* Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students

* Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards

* Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures

* May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget

* Performs related duties as assigned.
